Table throw, fitted or stretch: which table cover fits your booth?

Compare the draped look of a table throw, the tailored shape of a fitted cover and the snug finish of a stretch cover, with guidance on table size and open or closed backs.

A table cover changes how a booth looks from the aisle, but the choice is not only about appearance. Think about the table itself, who needs to stand or sit behind it, and whether guests will see the back. PromoMogul sells three printed styles: a table throw, a fitted cover and a stretch cover. Here is how to tell which one suits your setup.

Start with the table, not the cover name

Measure the tabletop and its height before ordering. PromoMogul's 4 ft size fits a table 48 inches long, 24 inches deep and 30 inches high. The 6 ft size fits 72 by 30 by 30 inches, and the 8 ft fits 96 by 30 by 30 inches. The store calls these 4 ft, 6 ft and 8 ft sizes. Match the actual table measurements to the product specifications, especially if your table is labeled 4 by 2.5 ft: the listed 4 ft cover is specified for a 24 inch deep table, not a 30 inch deep one.

All three styles are covers only. The table shown in product imagery is not included. Once the table fits the listed dimensions, choose the shape and access you want.

Table throw: a relaxed drape

A table throw falls over the tabletop and hangs down with soft folds at the corners. The look is traditional and less structured than a fitted cover. It is a useful choice when you want the fabric to drape naturally, or when you are covering a staffed booth table and need to choose between an open and closed back.

Throws are made from 250 g polyester poplin and printed full color by dye sublimation across the full cover. The edges are serged with clear thread. Pick a 3-sided, open-back throw when you sit behind the table or need to reach items stored underneath. Pick a 4-sided, closed-back throw when the back of the table will also be visible, such as at a display people can walk around.

Fitted cover: a tailored booth front

A fitted cover is shaped for the table and settles into place at its corners. Its outline looks neater and more tailored than a loose drape, while keeping the same practical choice of an open or closed back. That makes fitted a straightforward option for a staffed booth where the front should look tidy and someone may need the open space behind the table.

The fitted cover uses the same 250 g polyester poplin as the throw, with full-color dye-sublimation printing and serged edges. Select 3-sided, open back for access behind the table. Select 4-sided, closed back when all sides should be covered. The two back styles let you prioritize either access or a finished appearance around the whole table.

Stretch cover: a close, smooth fit

A stretch cover pulls snug around the table for a close, smooth look. Choose it when that tighter outline is the main visual goal. Stretch covers are made from 250 g stretch polyester, not polyester poplin. They are printed full color by dye sublimation across the fabric.

Stretch covers always cover four sides. You can choose a closed back or a zipper back. The zipper option lets you open the rear panel when you need access underneath, while keeping the cover on all four sides. If you need a fully open back for seating or frequent access, the product pages point you toward a fitted cover or throw in the 3-sided style instead.

Open back or closed back?

An open back covers the top, front and two sides, leaving the back open. It works for a booth table staffed from behind, or when supplies sit below the surface and need to stay reachable. A closed back covers all four sides. Use it when attendees may see the table from different directions and you want the branding to continue around it.

The stretch cover's zipper back is a third access choice within a four-sided style. It closes across the back and opens when you need to get underneath. Consider how often you will need that access before choosing it over the open-back fit of a throw or fitted cover.

Make the choice

Choose a throw for soft folds and a classic drape. Choose fitted for a shaped, tailored look with an open-back option. Choose stretch for a snug outline, with a closed or zipper back. Then confirm table length, depth and height against the listed fit before selecting your artwork. For a booth where staff sit behind the table, prioritize access. For a table guests can walk around, prioritize coverage on every side.

Compare the listed options and shop PromoMogul table covers to choose the style and size for your booth.
