Step and Repeat Backdrops: Pop Up vs Pillowcase vs Stand

A step and repeat is the logo wall behind red carpets, press lines and award photos. It also makes a clean back wall for a trade show booth. We make it three ways, and the real difference is how the printed fabric meets the frame.

Pop up fabric backdrop

The pop up backdrop is a lightweight aluminum frame with a stretch fabric graphic that covers the front and wraps both 11.81 in end caps, so the sides look finished from an angle. The back of the frame is not covered. Both sizes stand about 7.5 ft tall; the 8 ft and 10 ft names describe the width class, not the height.

Pick it for a wall you will set up again and again, with finished ends that look good when people walk past from the side.

Pillowcase tension fabric

The pillowcase backdrop slips over its frame and pulls smooth, so the face reads as one clean surface. It is the only one of the three that comes 20 ft wide, and the only one that can be printed on both sides, which matters when people see it from front and back, such as a divider in the middle of a room.

The print is larger than the frame face, so build the design on our template for the size. It is made for indoor use.

Banner on an adjustable stand

The step and repeat banner stand is a fabric banner with pole pockets sewn along the top and bottom, hung on a telescoping stand with 1.625 in poles. At 8 ft tall it is the tallest of the three. The banner is washable, and the stitching of the pole pockets shows on the front. It comes with a travel bag, and it is usually the lowest price of the three for a full size logo wall.

Pick it for photo lines where height matters, and when the banner gets swapped between events: a printed banner is also sold on its own for a stand you already own.

What size do you need

• 8 ft wide suits photos of two or three people and tight spaces.
• 10 ft wide leaves room for groups and for photographers shooting wider, and it fills the back of a standard 10 ft booth.
• 20 ft wide (pillowcase only) covers a long press line or the back of a double booth.
